Salesforce is in Claude. Get your CRM ready.

At Dreamforce, Salesforce said AI is replacing the screen. Reps can now run call prep, stakeholder maps and pipeline reviews from inside Claude. Here is what that changes for sellers, and what it does not.

What did Salesforce announce at Dreamforce 2026?

Salesforce announced AIforce on 15 September 2026. It brings Salesforce data and workflows into AI tools, so reps can work with the CRM without opening the Salesforce screen.1

Salesforce calls AIforce a live interface layer. It carries Salesforce data, workflows, business logic, permissions and governance into whatever AI interface a team uses.1 Marc Benioff, Salesforce’s chair and CEO, framed the launch as an interface revolution driven by AI.1

The most concrete piece for sellers is Salesforce in Claude. Salesforce and Anthropic first announced it on 26 August 2026, as part of a partnership called Claudeforce.2 It connects Claude to Salesforce with 37 prebuilt sales skills, and Salesforce said at Dreamforce that it is in beta for all customers.1

The rest of the launch points the same way. Slack CRM lets people create accounts and update records by typing a prompt in Slack.1 Agentforce Coworker is an AI teammate inside the Lightning screen, and Salesforce says 100,000 users turned it on in its first 35 days.1 At the event, Patrick Stokes, Salesforce’s president of applications and marketing, made the case that the screen often slows users down.4

What does the AI actually work from?

It works from what is in Salesforce. The prep is only as good as the records behind it.

Salesforce lists the skills by name. They include call-prep, stakeholder-map, close-plan, handle-objection, account-plan, pipeline-review and daily-briefing.3 Salesforce says the skills read from the live pipeline, account history, call transcripts, emails and stage changes stored in Salesforce.3 Claude sees only what the rep is allowed to see, and can do only what the rep is allowed to do.3

That is a sensible design. It also means the assistant inherits every gap in your CRM. If nobody logged the new VP of finance, the stakeholder map will not show her. If the account announced a restructuring last week and nobody captured it, the call prep will not raise it.

What a CRM-based assistant can draw on, and what someone still has to bring
Already in the CRMSomeone still has to bring
The accountStage, amount, close date and activity historyWhat changed at the company since the last touch: hires, launches, pricing moves, funding
The peopleContacts someone entered, and who replied to whatNew stakeholders, people who left, and who holds the budget now
The conversationEmails and call transcripts that were loggedWhat was said on LinkedIn, at the event, or on the call nobody recorded
The meaningA summary of what happenedA judgment on why it matters to this deal, and what to do next

One skill on Salesforce’s list says a lot: sfdc-hygiene-check.3 Salesforce ships a skill to find messy records because messy records now produce messy prep. In our view, that is the real lesson of the launch. When the AI works from your CRM, the quality and freshness of what is in it matters more than the screen.

Why does the rep matter more, not less?

Buyers check AI answers against people. The rep is who they check with.

Two large buyer surveys this year point the same way. Buyers use AI to research vendors, and then check what it told them.

Gartner645 B2B buyers
45%used generative AI in a recent purchase, mostly to gather information on vendors and products5
69%prefer to validate AI-generated insights with sales reps5
TrustRadius1,862 tech buyers
63%used AI during a purchase6
94%of those buyers fact-check what the AI tells them6

Robert Blaisdell, a VP analyst at Gartner, made the point plainly: more AI use on the buyer side does not remove the role of the seller.5 In our view, it changes the role. The buyer arrives with AI answers, and the rep is the person they check them against.

In one line
AI can prepare you for the call.Only you can earn the buyer’s trust.

The assistant asksWhat does the CRM say about this account, and what should the rep know before the call?

The rep asksWhat changed for this buyer, what does it mean for them, and would I stake my name on this answer?

Salesforce has left room for that. Admins can set Claude to check with the rep before it emails anyone outside the company, or let it send once the team is comfortable.3 Our view: for anything that reaches a buyer, keep the check on. A buyer who fact-checks AI will notice a message that nobody read.

What should sales teams do before they switch it on?

Get the records right, add what changed outside the CRM, and keep people on anything a buyer reads. Then let the assistant do the prep.

Three moves for this quarter

  • Audit what the assistant will read. Pick five live deals. Run the call prep yourself, then compare it with what you know. Every gap is a field, a contact or a note that is missing.
  • Capture what changed at each account, with its date and source. Hires, launches, pricing moves and funding happen outside your CRM. A fact without a date or a source is a guess the AI will repeat with confidence.
  • Keep a person on the message. Let AI draft. Have the rep read, edit and own every message that goes to a buyer.

RecommendationBefore you give reps an AI that preps calls, ask one question: if this assistant read our CRM tonight, would it know what changed at our top ten accounts this month? If the answer is no, fix that first.

This is the problem we built Duologue around. Each account gets a timeline of partnerships, pricing moves, launches, hires and funding, each with its date, its source and a line on why it matters to the deal. Stale facts are flagged before a rep uses them.

Salesforce moving into Claude is a real shift in how reps will reach their data. It does not change who the buyer trusts, or what they need from you on the call.

Frequently asked questions

What is Salesforce AIforce?

AIforce is what Salesforce calls a live interface layer. It brings Salesforce data, workflows, business logic, permissions and governance into AI tools such as Claude and Slack, so people can work with CRM data without opening the Salesforce screen. Salesforce announced it at Dreamforce on 15 September 2026.

What is Salesforce in Claude?

Salesforce in Claude is a plugin that connects Claude to Salesforce with 37 prebuilt sales skills. The skills include call prep, stakeholder maps, pipeline reviews, close plans and a CRM hygiene check. Salesforce announced it with Anthropic on 26 August 2026, and said at Dreamforce that it is in beta for all customers.

Does Salesforce in Claude email prospects on its own?

Salesforce says admins choose. Claude can be set to check with the rep before it emails anyone outside the company, or to send once the team is comfortable. Our view is that reps should read every message that goes to a buyer.

Will AI assistants replace sales reps?

The buyer data points the other way. In a Gartner survey of 645 B2B buyers, 69% said they prefer to validate AI-generated insights with sales reps. AI takes over preparation and admin, and the rep becomes the person buyers check the AI against.

How do you prepare a CRM for AI assistants?

Start with what the assistant will read: stages, activities, contacts, notes and call transcripts. Fix stale records, capture what changed at each account with its date and source, and keep a person reviewing anything that goes to a buyer. Salesforce itself ships a hygiene-check skill, which tells you record quality now matters more.
